“My dream hunt would be to pursue a coastal brown bear with my mother, father and wife. I have always hunted with my family and it makes every trp that much more special to have them with me.
When I was 14, my mother, father and me went on a trip to Alaska. That is when I saw my first coastal brown bear. Although we saw moose, caribou, wolves and a host of other game, the majesty of the brown bear has burned his image like a photograph in my mind.
It is said that Alaska is the last frontier—which brings to mind the pioneers that I wished I was as a child. I can recall many days in my parent’s backyard with Dave Crockett toting my Daisy fending off attacks from grizzly bears and exploring the west. Well, I may have gotten older, but th edream has remained constant.
As for the Daisy, I still have her in the safe with the Mark IV Weatherby chambered in .300 WBY. MAG. that my dad gave me almost 10 years ago. In my mind, there is no animal that personifies the great frontier of Amerca, her freedoms and true wild we are blessed to enjoy as the coastal brown.”
