“WOW! What a question! After seeing the Weatherby Dream Hunt ad in a magazine, I turned to my 6-year-old and 4½year-old boys and asked them, ‘what is your dream hunt?’ The responses were quick and simple. From the 6-year-old, elk, from the 4½-year-old, bear. What a beautiful thing hunting, fishing, and the outdoors have been for me, taken on countless trips by my parents. The same, which I am doing for my three boys now.

I had to sit down and really think, what is my dream hunt? Who would I go with? What would I pursue? I think the three toughest questions I have ever thought about. First off, my dream hunt, (trying to not weigh-in what my boys have suggested) would be to the north, Alaska or Canada. I have always dreamed of going to the northern country and hunt caribou, moose, bear, sheep, just about anything I could find. To be able to enjoy this opportunity with my older two children would be breathtaking.Their love for hunting is just amazing, especially my 4½-year-old, when asked what he wants to be when he grows up, he stated ‘a hunter.’ All he ever wants is hunting gear and fishing gear, nothing else matters.

If I had to pick a species to pursue I would be split between caribou and moose. I have always wanted to hunt caribou and have been intrigued reading stories of others hunting them. Moose has been a high interest after having the opportunity to tag along with my uncle when he drew a tag in Idaho. Being a once in a lifetime tag in the state of Idaho, I have and will continue to put off applying for a moose tag until my boys are a little older so they can enjoy the experience with me.

The chance to pursue a caribou or moose in Alaska or Canada would just be on awesome experience. Add in the fact that my two older boys, (Nathan 6, and Kyler 4 1/2) would have the opportunity to come along would an absolutely wonderful experience. To be able to go to some of the most breathtaking country that I have ever seen and be there with my two boys would be something that I would never forget, nor would my boys. Not much can beat being in beautiful country, spending time with my boys, and getting the opportunity to hunt some majestic animals.

The thought of a ‘dream hunt’ is just a great thing to think about. Sitting down with my boys and talking to them about what their dream hunt is, and reliving memories from past hunts with them has made the night a very enjoyable time. As we get our gear ready for deer season to open in two days here in Idaho, we are dreaming about what it will bring to us and what memories we are going to create this year. It is just such a great opportunity that you at Weatherby has given to all, the opportuntiy to sit down and dream about our dream hunts, who they include, and where we would go. It has provided my family a chance to kick back and dream as we prepare for yet another hunting season in which memories are to be made.

As usual, thanks again to the Weatherby people for giving us a chance to dream, and helping us build memories!”
