“Well, since I’m divorced now and I don’t get to spend as much time with my daughter as I used to, my dream hunt (without a doubt) would be a whitetail deer hunt with my little girl. I would love to take her some place where she and I would get to see some of nature’s beautiful landscape, see a lot of deer and most of all spend some quality time together and share an amazing experience that she and I could both savor together for a lifetime. An experience that both she and I could look back on and remember a happy time in our lives together.
Karly Bree LaFleur is her name and she is everything to me. A few months ago, she began asking me to take her deer hunting. I tell her that I will take her even though I don’t know of any place close to us that I can afford where we would see deer for sure. I love to deer hunt and I do whenever I get the chance. I hunt some of the NWMAs around where we live, but I don’t see many deer and I really don’t think that she would enjoy freezing in a tree stand all day and not seeing anything.
My time to scout and hunt is very limited due to my school and work. I work on an ambulance and work an average of 196 hours every two weeks. But I always make time for my daughter no matter what else I have going on. Giving my daughter positive experiences and introducing her to my hunting heritage and the outdoor way of life are very important goals in my life that I want to pass down to her.
When I heard of your dream hunt contest, taking my little girl on a hunt of a lifetime was the first thing that came to mind. I closed my eyes and I could just see the smile on her face with all her camo and her orange stocking cap on saying, ‘LOOK DADDY, A DEER!!!’ Every second I spend with her is treasured.
When she was eight months old, I was deployed to Afghanistan for eight and a half months. Then seven months after I got home I was deployed again to Iraq. This time for a year. So you can see why I spend as much time as I can with her and why that time is so precious to me. If we were chosen, I know that she would be so happy to spend this kind of time with her daddy. I would be so thankful for the once in a lifetime chance to be able to share this experience with the most important person im my life, my daughter.”
