“My hunt…well, I first would like to tell you who I would like to go on this trip with me. I have an older brother, Richard. Richard is 27 and I am 25. Me and my brother have always been close. We have been through a lot in our short lives. We were young when our mom left, eight and six. We were then raised by our grandparents. There were hard times there, but we managed to survive and stick together. When we were brought up, we didn’t have much. Both grandparents were on Social Security, and whatever that amount was, it wasn’t much. They made sure we had two new outfits for school every year, and warm food on the table and a good roof over our heads.
I can remember times when we would be at the grocery store and I would want something; as well as my brother. Mine would be more at times, and my grandma would tell me ‘No, because if I got you that your brother couldn’t have his.’ I didn’t have to talk or con him into anything, he volunteered to give up his treat so I could have that little something extra. That’s one of my best memories of my brother. He has helped me out all through life. Offering me advice, helping with projects, etc. I have a deep found respect for him and an even greater love!
I am the hunter out of my family. If it has anything to do with the outdoors, sign me up and set me up front. I have gone target shooting with my brother on many occasions. We have talked a few times about a hunting trip together. It always comes down to finances, as does everything in this world. When I came across this in my e-mail, I thought what the heck it is worth a shot.
I would love to take my brother on an elk or buffalo hunt. I like the meat from both animals, as does he. They are beautiful creatures. I think the two prettiest animals in the state of Arizona! In my opinion, Arizona has some of the best elk hunting in the country. Both animals are a challenge to hunt. I would like to take Richard on a hunt like this, so we could spend some time together. Plus give him the oppurtunity to see what I love to do. I have helped him many times on his passion, which is his race truck. It is a Chevy S-10 pickup, that we built from a small block Chevy pushing around 600 horsepower. He has the smarts for that type of stuff. There are many good areas in the state to go elk hunting, as for buffalo I am not sure.
For us to go on this hunt together would mean the world to me. It would be yet another way for me to give back to him for what he gave me as a kid growing up. It would be a fantastic gift, for both of us. Even if we didn’t have a sucessful hunt, in my mind it would be a sucess; just to be able to spend that kind of quality time with him.
I thank you Weatherby for putting on this contest. Who ever wins this Dream Hunt, is pretty darn lucky. I wish who ever wins the best of luck.”
