“My dream hunt would be to take my oldest son, Tyler on a hunt of his lifetime and mine. The hunt would be an unbelievable high school graduation present for him. He will be graduating in May 2008 basically a year before most kids his age. He will only be 17 at the time of his graduation and has managed to maintain a 3.5 grade point taking advanced classes and playing football and baseball with his high school team.
I am so very proud of him and don’t often get a chance to show him how proud I am, but this dream hunt would be a wonderful way to show it. Our entire family truly loves to hunt and fish and just being in the outdoors. We don’t miss a whitetail season here in Arkansas but there is no way I could ever afford to take Tyler on a dream hunt of a lifetime.
My dream hunt would be for Tyler to have a chance to harvest an elk in Colorado or New Mexico with me there as a proud Dad to watch it all happen. As a family we often watch the hunting shows on the Outdoor Channel and ‘dream’ of actually being there in real life. With Tyler graduating from high school this year, this would be a great time to have this dream hunt. Once he graduates, things won’t be the same as when he was still in school....he will be off on his own life’s journey to prepare for a career and family and it won’t really be the same and he will be under pressures of starting college, deciding a life career and all the other things that come with becoming an adult.
So, as far as my DREAM HUNT, it would be the ability to watch my oldest son, Tyler harvest his first elk in the beautiful mountains out west. Nothing would bring me more pride and excitement than to watch him take his first elk and be there in person walking the terrain in the Aspens or Spruce trees, hear the bugling, watch the elk graze and hear the shot ring out when he has the big one in his sight.
Please consider my dream hunt even though I would not actually be the one to hold the gun and fire but I can not explain the feeling it would bring me to see the expression on my son’s face when he did the shooting. Thank you for the possibility of my dream hunt becoming reality.”
